SWP Changes Year EndREGINA - Jul 30/07 - SNS - The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Inc. (SWP) intends to change its financial year-end from July 31 to October 31 to better align its reporting period with its business cycle. As a result of this change, the Pool's fiscal 2007 reporting period will be a 15-month year. The Pool will report its fourth quarter results for the period ending July 31 in early-September. Its year-end results will be available within the required 90 days following the new fiscal year-ending October 31, 2007 -- matching that of Agricore United. The new financial year coincides with the same quarter-end period so reporting periods will remain comparable. It is the Pool's intent to complete the amalgamation of the two companies on November 1, 2007, and establish the opening balance sheet for the new Company on that date. Chief Financial Officer, David Carefoot said, “With the amalgamation of the two companies targeted for November 1, we took the opportunity to align our financial reporting periods with our business cycle. Harvest is typically complete by the end of October and, as a result, industry information is much more reliable and available for planning and budgeting purposes. In addition, it will allow the Company to focus on expediting many of the internal integration processes through the remaining summer months in preparation for the busy fall grain delivery and post-harvest application season.”
