Strong Finish For Lentils
VANCOUVER - Jul 27/07 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week's trading on a strong note, with spot and new crop values higher for most origins and classes of product.
Tightening supplies on spot shipping positions stemming from reluctant grower and processor selling combined with slipping yield forecasts top pull values higher.
Supply is increasingly viewed as the key issue facing lentil markets across the 2007-08 marketing year in the face of a strong export sales programs for North American shippers, relatively small regional ending stocks, and limited competition from other suppliers.
