Lentils Finish FirmVANCOUVER - Jul 14/07 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week on a firm note against relatively light trading interest, with new crop markets maintaining strong premiums to spot, especially for green lentils. Markets were helped by the USDA's confirmation that seeded area was down sharply from last year, falling from 429,000 to 305,000 acres. At the same, market participants in Canada are coming to grips with the Statistics Canada seeded area estimates, with most looking for green lentil area to be reduced when the numbers are revised in December and red lentil area to rise.
