Canada's Specialty Export Pace SlowsVANCOUVER - Jul 2/07 - SNS -- Bulk conventional shipments of specialty crop through Canada's major ports maintained a relatively slow pace in June, judging from the latest data available from the Canadian Ports Clearance Association. Total clearances for all specialty crops finished the month at 102,837 metric tons (MT), down from 108,847 MT in May and below the 122,090 MT shipped during the same month last year. The month over month decline was accounted for by limited shipments of specialty crops other than field peas, which were little changed on the month, but down 29,253 MT from the quantity shipped during the same month last year. This was the poorest showing of the recent three year period, falling behind the 122,090 MT of peas shipped last year and the 122,295 MT shipped in 2005.
