Australia Dominates World Lupin Market
SYDNEY - Jun 25/07 - SNS -- Australia remains the world most important lupin producer, accounting for 85% of the global crop during the past decade, clearly out pacing production from competitors such as Belarus, Chile, the European Union and the Russian Federation.
A fraction of lupin produced each year are destined for human consumption markets. Most, however, are used as livestock feed by the cattle, pigs, poultry and aquaculture industries.
Australia's most important export destinations are the European Union, Japan and the Republic of Korea. These normally account for 90% of total exports.
