Firm Tone on Pea MarketsVANCOUVER - Jun 1/07 - SNS -- North American field pea markets maintained their firm tone in inter-dealer markets, though some weakness has started to develop at the grower level in Canada. Markets in the United States are getting ongoing support from the USDA's PL-480 food aid tender program, with processors working on next week's offers for 1,440 metric tons (MT) of whole and split yellow peas and meeting shipping commitments for prior sales. Activity on Canadian markets, however, is slowing in the face of tightening supplies on spot markets and limited offers from growers.
