Canada's Specialty Exports Tumble in MayVANCOUVER - Jun 1/07 - SNS -- Bulk conventional shipments of specialty crop through Canada's major ports tumbled in May, judging from the latest data available from the Canadian Ports Clearance Association. Total clearances for all specialty crops finished the month at 108,847 metric tons (MT), down from 155,117 MT in April and below the 143,915 MT shipped during the same month last year. All the decline was accounted for by field peas, which sank from 148,801 MT in April to just 92,463 MT last month. This was the poorest showing of the recent three year period, falling behind the 143,915 MT of peas shipped last year and the 126,248 MT shipped in 2005.
