USDA Buys 13,500 MT Pulses
KANSAS CITY - May 9/07 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 13,500 metric tons (MT) of pulses for shipment as food aid.
In releasing result of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 057, the USDA said, "Due to a change in program requirements and no offers received, 5,100 MT of split yellow peas were not purchased. Additionally, there were no offers for 630 MT of split yellow peas. A total of 370 MT of split yellow peas were rejected due to price."
Consequently, the quantity of split yellow peas bought dropped from 8,750 to 2,650 MT.
Average prices paid on the tender were higher for small red beans and whole and split peas, but lower for lentils.
