Australian Livestock Auction Action UpSYDNEY - May 4/07 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd rose during the past week on increased offerings of both cattle and sheep. Throughput for the week totalled 23,641 sheep and lambs, versus 17,138 head during the previous week's auctions, and 3,310 head of cattle, compared to 2,358 last week. "Available numbers of sheep for sale remain modest, but even so our sales showed a good bit of variation from early to late week," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Tuesday's sale was very strong but by Thursday the sting had gone. Marketing is a fascinating study and of great interest this week is how quickly prices related to people's nervousness of the extreme weather conditions we are experiencing."
