Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary
Gale warnings are current for Victorian coastal waters west of Wilsons
Promontory.
A strong wind warning is current  for Port Phillip and Western Port.
A severe weather warning has been issued for localised damaging winds over parts
of the Wimmera and Western districts tonight.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments
A cold front in the far southwest of Victoria will slide southeastwards during
Wednesday. A second, stronger, front will move from the Bight to cross Victoria
on Thursday. Conditions will begin to stabilise on Friday as a ridge of high
pressure starts to develop across New South Wales and northern parts of South
Australia. Another front will cross Bass Strait on Saturday.
Victoria
Wednesday:    Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms at first over the far
southwest then isolated showers over southern and mountain areas during the day.
A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with fresh to strong north to northwesterly
winds easing in the morning.
UV Index:     4 [moderate] decreasing to 2 [low] under cloud.
Thursday:     Showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly on and south of
the ranges. A cool to mild day with fresh to strong northerly winds then winds
shifting cooler westerly.
Friday:       Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts contracting to
the coast. Fine elsewhere. Generally cool.
Saturday:     Fine apart from drizzle about the northeast ranges and isolated
