Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Nil.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A weak high pressure system is moving over the state ahead of a broad low
pressure trough to the west. The trough will push through the state during the
second half of this week, with a fresh and gusty westerly wind. Despite the
cloud over the central parts of the continent and associated with the low
itself, conditions are not favourable for significant rainfall this week except
maybe for the western slopes of the ranges in the south, where a persistence of
the westerly winds has the potential to result in a further accumulation of
rainfall. The best prospects being later Thursday into Friday, by which time it
might even be cold enough for some light snowfalls about the higher ground in
the Alpine region.
Forecast for Wednesday
Fine apart from a shower or two about the western slopes of the far southern
ranges. Moderate to fresh northwest winds.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers developing over the southern inland and becoming scattered near
the Victorian border, especially about the western slopes of the ranges later in
the day and night. Fine elsewhere. Warm northwest winds becoming fresh and
gusty, tending cooler westerly in the west and south.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges with a little snow
about higher ground in the Alpine region. Generally fine elsewhere. Moderate to
fresh west to southwest winds easing.
Forecast for Saturday
Fine apart from a shower or two about the western slopes of the far southern
ranges. Light to moderate winds.
