Field Pea Values Hold SteadyVANCOUVER - Apr 27/07 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading on a strong note against good, ongoing demand from export markets in both spot and new crop shipping positions and food aid buying by the USDA. Demand from the U.S. government is having the most impact on yellow pea markets. Even though processors report tight stocks across the industry and have demonstrated difficulty finding product to meet USDA demand, the latest tender sought more whole and split yellow peas. Government buyers hope to secure 2,770 metric tons (MT) of whole yellow and 8,750 MT of split yellow peas for shipment in June. Some market participants doubt the entire quantity will be offered.
