USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Apr 13/07 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Apr 13.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW

For the week grain and soybeans were mostly lower. Wheat for the week had
support over the uncertainty of the freeze damage this past week over the
major wheat growing regions. Weekly export sales for wheat came in at 808,700
tonnes as compared to trade expectations between 250,000-450,000 tonnes. With
cool and moist conditions in the central and southern plains are expected to
help in the crop conditions resulting from the freeze over the past weekend.
Corn closed mixed on the week, with ideas now that the farmers in the
western Corn Belt will be able to get some field work done next week with
cool dry conditions forecasted. Weekly export sales for corn came in at 1.507
tonnes as compared to trade expectations between 600,000-800,000 tonnes.
Soybeans were moderately lower on the week with slow export sales,
increased competition from a bumper crop in South America and weakness in the
corn market help drive the soybeans lower this week. Weekly export sales were
143,000 tonnes as compared to trade expectations between 200,000-400,000
tonnes
Wheat was mixed on the week ranging from 2 cents lower to 13 cents higher.
Yellow corn was 8 cents lower to 9 cents higher with KC white corn 9-12 cents
higher. Sorghum was mixed on the week with prices 15 cents lower to 10 cents
higher. Soybeans were 19 to 22 cents lower.
