Firm Undertone for BirdseedsVANCOUVER - Apr 6/07 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week mixed with a slightly firmer undertone in both Canada and the United States. Canadian canaryseed markets were nominally unchanged on inter-dealer markets, while average grower bid levels rose during the week, ranging up to CDN $18 per 100 pounds (cwt) for farmers dressed product delivered western Canadian processing plants. Oil-type sunflower markets were also slightly firmer in the United States, while confectionary sunflower and millet values were unchanged on the week. Markets for both those ingredients remain relatively high because of the belief available supplies will remain slightly behind the needs of the market in 2007-08.
