Canadian Farmland Values Rise in 2006OTTAWA - Apr 2/07 - SNS -- Canadian farmland values managed a 2.5% increase during the last half of 2006, according to data assembled by Farm Credit Canada (FCC), Canada's highest increase since 2002 and extending the 2.1% increase recorded the first half of the year. Most provinces continue to see growth in farmland values. Increases are consistent with an upward trend since January 2000. None of the provinces showed a decrease. The largest increase is in British Columbia, where values grew by 8.2%. Alberta shows the second largest increase at 4.8%. Manitoba along with Newfoundland and Labrador follow, with increases at 2.9 and 2.8% respectively. New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan increased similarly by 1.8, 1.7 and 1.3% respectively.
