Canada Poultry Placements Up on Year
OTTAWA - Mar 28/07 - SNS -- Canadian poultry producers increased hatchery chick placements from year earlier levels, though they were down sharply on the month, according to Statistics Canada.
Placements of hatchery chicks onto farms were estimated at 50.8 million birds in February, up 0.3% from February 2006. Placements of turkey poults on farms increased 7.0% to 1.7 million birds.
