WTO Cannot Force Imports of Subsidized GoodsNEW DELHI - Mar 23/07 - SNS -- India's minister of Industry and Commerce says the current round of World Trade Organization talks cannot result in a situation where the developing countries are forced to accept imports of heavily subsidized agricultural products from the United States and Europe. Agricultural markets of developing countries like India cannot be opened to subsidized imports from developed countries, Shri Kamal Nath said at a meeting here today with the Commonwealth Secretary General, Don McKinnon. McKinnon agreed with Shri Kamal Nath that such subsidies distorted world prices and thereby aversely impacted on farmers in developing countries.
