India Probes Pulse Export BanNEW DELHI - Mar 23/07 - SNS -- India's Commerce and Industry Minister, Shri Kamal Nath, has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to look into the circumstances surrounding last year's decision to ban pulse exports and any potential "wrongdoing that might have been committed by some exporters." In announcing the decision, the minister provided an interesting chronology of the events going into the decision: In the wake of rising prices of essential commodities, Cabinet Committee on Prices (CCP) and Committee of Secretaries were constantly reviewing the prices and domestic availability of essential commodities including pulses and were taking various decisions to check the prices of these commodities.
