USDA INspection Fees RisingWASHINGTON - Mar 13/07 - SNS -- The USDA is increasing hourly fees charged for its voluntary processed fruit and vegetable inspection, grading, and certification services effective, April 6, 2007. The increases are necessary to offset increases in employee salaries and inflation, and to maintain the fiscal stability of this program. Current fees have been in effect since 2003. The fee increases for the grading and certification of processed fruits, vegetables and other processed products – volunteer services that are provided on a user-fee basis --are as follows: - charges for lot inspection services – from U.S. $52 to $62; - charges for less than year-round, in-plant inspection services on a contract basis – from $52 to $65; and - charges for year-round, in-plant inspection services on a contract basis – from $39 to $49.
