Philippine Oilseed Exports DownWASHINGTON - Mar 12/07 - SNS -- Coconut oil and meal exports from the Philippines were down from year earlier levels during November. A recent report from the U.S. agricultural attache for the country reveals coconut oil shipments fell 25.5% to 82,567 metric tons (MT), while copra meal exports dropped 43.4% to 27,147 MT. There were no copra exports in November. By contrast, average trading levels were up over the previous year, with coconut oil export values rising 15/65% to U.S. 592.27 MT and copra meal jumping 111.37% to $92.73 MT. The most important buyers of coconut oil in November included: United States at 34,613 MT; Japan at 4.225 MT; and China at 2,535 MT. South Korea and Japan were the most important copra meal buyers, taking 18,396 MT, compared to 654 MT by Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore.
