India Extends Pulse Export BanNEW DELHI - Mar 12/07 - SNS -- The Indian government extended its ban on exports of all classes of pulses except kabuli chickpeas another year until March 31, 2008. The ban is intended to prevent export demand from adding to food price inflation in. The country's wholesale inflation rate was 6.1% for the year ending February 24. Last week, India removed all restrictions on the export of kabuli chickpeas, known in India as kabuli chana or dollar gram, under Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Notification No.52. This is the second time the export ban was extended. It was originally slated to expire December 26, 2006, but was extended to March 31 of this year.
