General Decline in U.S. CitrusWASHINGTON - Mar 9/07 - SNS --Hawaii fresh papaya utilization is estimated at 2.07 million pounds for February, down 14% from January and 8% less than February 2006, according to the latest USDA crop production estimates. Area in crop totaled 2,360 acres, up less than 1% from last month and 3% higher than a year ago. Harvested area totaled 1,145 acres in February, up 1% from January but 36% lower than February 2006. Conditions in papaya growing areas were generally favorable during February which resulted in trees showing new growth and steady flowering.
