Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary
Fire Weather Warning: Fire danger will be extreme in the Mallee, Northern
Country, North Central and Northeast districts on Saturday.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments
A cold front over the Bight will move eastwards and will cross Victoria on
Saturday. A high pressure system will develop south of Western Australia on
Sunday before drifting eastwards on Monday as a cold front moves across
Tasmania.  On Tuesday the high pressure system will move to the south of
Tasmania.
Victoria
Tonight and Saturday:    Fine tonight. Early morning fog patches in Gippsland. A
warm to hot day with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler
southwesterly change extending from the west.  Isolated showers and
thunderstorms developing, mostly near the change and mainly in the south. Fire
Danger:          High to very high, reaching extreme in the north.
UV Index:     6 - 8 [High to Very High]
Sunday:       Isolated showers, mostly on and south of the ranges. Isolated
thunderstorms in the east. Generally warm in the north, milder in the south.
Monday:       Isolated showers, mainly in the south.  Isolated thunderstorms in
the far east. Fine over the northern plains.  Cool to mild.
Tuesday:      Isolated showers in the south contracting east and clearing. Fine
