India Eases Pulse Export BanNEW DELHI - Feb 21/07 - SNS -- The Indian government eased its ban on pulse exports by allowing Dollar Gram or chana, which is mainly grown in Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh That pulse is only grown for export. The ban therefore caused prices to collapse from between Rs.4000 to Rs.4500 per quintal or U.S $908 to $1,023 per metric ton (MT) last year to between Rs.2000 to Rs.2300 or $$454 and $523 MT this year. The change in policy is contained in Department of Commerce Notification No.48 dated 20-02-2007, allowing export of Dollar Chana under permission granted by Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). The regional offices of DGFT at Bhopal and Hyderabad are being authorised to issue these permissions.
