Louis Dreyfus Commodities Buys Brazilian
NEW YORK - Feb 16/07 - SNS -- Louis Dreyfus Commodities Bioenergy finalized its purchase of Brazil's Grupo Tavares de Melo.
The purchase makes Louis Dreyfus Commodities Brazil's No. 2 producer of sugar and ethanol behind Cosan SA and includes two ethanol units in Rio Grande do Norte and Mato Grosso do Sul.
The acquisition is expected to boost sugarcane processing from 11.8 million metric tons (MT) this year to 18.5 million MT by 2009.
