Good Demand Supports LentilsVANCOUVER - Feb 9/07 - SNS -- North American lentil markets remain firm against good underlying demand and movement and worries about how many will be planted this year. The USDA's purchase of 7,000 metric tons (MT) of lentils for movement as food aid during March was viewed as supportive by processors in the United States. Interestingly, the USDA only paid an average U.S. $17.36 per 100 pounds (cwt) even though a large number of the suppliers on the tender were companies from the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
