USDA National Grain ReviewST. JOSEPH - Feb 9/07 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Feb 9.
WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
For the week grain and soybean bids were mostly slight to moderately higher.
Wheat ended mix finding pressure from moisture in the forecast for the hard red
winter wheat region. However, good weekly export sales lend support. Weekly
export sales for wheat were above expectations coming in at 842,600 tonnes as
compared to trade estimates 450,000-650,000. Corn gained most of the losses
from last week despite pressure from talk of increased acreage for this year.
The higher wheat and soybeans in the week spilled over into the corn market.
The weekly export sales for corn were above expectations coming in at 917,300
tonnes as compared to trade estimates of 700,000-900,000. Soybeans saw gains
most of the week as talk of decline in planting acreage for this year surge the
market higher. Good weekly export sales and the higher soybean meal market late
in the week added additional support. The cold weather across the Midwest
boosted demand for meal. Good South American weather for the coming harvest
limited the gains. Weekly export sales were reported at 803,800 tonnes as
compared to 450,000-650,000.
Wheat was 4 cents lower to 13 cents higher. Yellow corn was 1-9 cents higher
with KC white corn 19-21 cents higher. Sorghum was 3-4 cents higher. Soybeans
were 17-20 cents higher.
