Australian Livestock Auction Action RisesSYDNEY - Feb 9/07 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd jumped during the past week on across the board gains in sales activity. Throughput for the week totalled 37,604 sheep and lambs, versus 25,358 head the previous auction, and 4,369 head of cattle, compared to 3,369 last week. "Large increases in volumes this week due to water shortages brought about the expected results with markets loosing their consistency," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Some grades of stock, i.e. weaner cattle and mutton sheep, were dearer with most others selling rather erratically. "The water shortages that forced a large percentage of stock to market also prevented a number of buyers participating and probably most affected in our markets were store lambs which appeared to be a good $4 off."
