Brazil Expects 55.5 MMT Soybean CropWASHINGTON - Feb 8/07 - SNS -- Brazil's soybean harvest should total 55.5 million metric tons (MT) from 20.6 million hectares, according to the latest forecasts from the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. The soybean harvest is already 10% complete, with the first soybeans being harvested in the Center-west of Brazil. In a recent visit to areas being harvested in Paraná, the agricultural attache found the condition of the crop to be very good, with expected average yields of 2.9 MT per hectare in that state. "Under this year's ideal weather conditions, early yields are short of outstanding only because of the less fertilizer used this year due to poor credit availability," the agricultural attache said.
