Australian Exports Surprise ChickpeasVANCOUVER - Feb 2/07 - SNS -- International chickpea markets finished the week mostly unchanged against steady inquiry from the Indian subcontinent and limited supplies of all classes of product outside Australia, which recently completed its harvest. Final production numbers are not yet available for Australia, but the fact the country was able to ship 69,604 metric tons (MT) of chickpeas in December clearly suggests Pulse Australia's surprisingly high production estimates were not a mistake. Chickpea exports in the October to December quarter came in at 171,751 MT, up from 160,593 MT during the same three month period one year earlier.
