Australian Livestock Auction Action JumpsSYDNEY - Feb 2/07 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd jumped during the past week on across the board gains in sales activity. Throughput for the week totalled 25,358 sheep and lambs, versus 20,540 head the previous auction, and 3,369 head of cattle, compared to 1,956 last week. "Another surge in throughputs this week," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Sheep and lamb values were also very strong this week and buyers report being able to buy excellent quality heavy lambs throughout the week, more evidence of improved management techniques." "Evidenced by the numbers of light calves we had in todays sale, and similar scenarios in saleyards throughout the week, its obvious people are suffering severe water shortages and yet weaners hit new price highs today. All cattle in fact, were on a dearer trend except for DU steers, which looked a good 10c to 12c/kg cheaper." Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
