Russia Lifts Import Some DutiesWASHINGTON - Feb 1/07 - SNS -- Lobbying by the confectionary industry succeeded in getting the Russian government to eliminate import duties on shelled cashew nuts, almonds, shelled hazelnuts and sesame seeds for nine months starting February 26, 2007. The U.S. agricultural attache for the country notes the previous tariffs for these commodities were 5%. These nuts and seeds are important for the quickly growing Russian confectionary and snack industries.
