Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
A Fire Weather Warning for Very High to Extreme Fire Danger for Lower Western
until midnight Friday. Refer to Fire Weather Warning for the latest Rural Fire
Service Total Fire Ban information. Minor Flood Warning for the Paroo River.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A High over the Tasman Sea with a ridge along New South Wales coast is moving
slowly east. A weak trough lies over the northeastern inland. During Saturday a
cold front will move across the southern Tasman Sea and another high will move
towards Tasmania extending a ridge behind the front. The high will move over the
southern Tasman Sea on Sunday extending a ridge along the coast. On Monday a
southerly change is expected to approach the far southwest of the state as the
high moves towards New Zealand.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeastern inland. Isolated
showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Warm to hot.
Generally northeast to southeast winds.
Fire danger: Very High Fire Danger in Centralwest Slopes and Plains, Southwest
Slopes and in Riverina.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers along the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms on the
ranges and western slopes. Fine in the west. Warm to hot inland. Mild to warm
near the coast. Northeast to southeast winds.
Forecast for Sunday
The chance of showers on the far north coast. Fine elsewhere. Warm to hot.
Southeast to northeast winds.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Warm to
hot. East to southeast winds in the northeast and northwest to northeast winds
in the remainder.
