Chickpeas Unaffected by USDA ReportsVANCOUVER - Jan 12/07 - SNS -- North American chickpea markets were little changed in quiet trading conditions, with limited fill-in buying reported of the various classes from shippers on the continent. Week ending production updates for the United States contained no surprises and had no impact on markets. Total chickpea output was pegged at 69,809 metric tons (MT) from 136,800 acres, compared to last year's 48,127 MT harvest from 89,800 acres. The USDA also released its stocks in all positions estimates for chickpeas Friday, pegging them at 37,240 MT in all positions as of December 1. June 1 stocks totalled 7,711 MT.
