Millet Harvest Sinks
WASHINGTON - Jan 12/07 - SNS -- Proso millet production of proso millet for 2006 is estimated at 10.2 million bushels, down 25% from 2005 and 32% below 2004, according to the USDA 's final production estimate for 2006.
Planted area for the 2006 crop, at 580,000 acres, is up 3% while harvested area, at 475,000 acres, is down 8% from 2005. The average yield is estimated at 21.5 bushels per acre, down 5.0 bushels from last year.
