Slightly Lower Pulse Stocks in U.S.WASHINGTON - Jan 12/07 - SNS -- Available supplies of pulses in the United States are slightly lower than last year as major increases in stocks of chickpeas were offset be declines in field peas and lentils, judging from the USDA's latest stocks in all positions report. Pulse crops stored in all positions on December 1, 2006 and the change from December 1, 2005 are: dry edible peas, 6.28 million cwt (100 pound units), down 3%; lentils, 2.78 million cwt, down 8%; Austrian winter peas, 260,000 cwt, down 7%; all chickpeas, 821,000 cwt, up 35%; small chickpeas, 40,000 cwt, down 57%; and large chickpeas, 781,000 cwt, up 51%.
