LITTLE ROCK - Jan 8/07 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

   Domestic shipment: Offers, fob mills, milled rice, spot prices, dollars per
cwt, bagged. (All milled rice grade No 2 not to exceed 4 percent brokens,
except California grade No 1. All second heads grade No 4 or better, second
head and brewers are bulk.)

                             Domestic Situation

   Domestic milled rice price quotes were steady in the south and steady to 50
cents higher in California. By-products were mostly steady in the south and
steady in California.

   In the south, long grain rice prices were steady, quoted mostly at 19.00-
19.50; medium grain prices were steady, quoted mostly at 22.00-25.00; parboiled
rice prices were steady, quoted mostly from 20.00-25.00; second heads were
steady to 50 cents higher; brewers were steady to 50 cents higher. Rice by-
products: Offers for rice bran were steady with tight supplies; millfeed was
steady to 2.00 lower in a lightly tested trade; hulls were steady in a very thin
test.

   In California, medium grain milled rice prices were steady to firm, quoted
mostly from 25.00-26.00; short grain prices were 50 cents higher; second heads
were steady to 50 cents higher quoted mostly from 17.50-18.00; brewers were
mostly steady, instances 1.25 lower, quoted mostly from 14.75-15.00. Rice bran
was steady; rice hulls were steady.
