Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Jan 2/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary Strong wind warnings are current for Victorian coastal waters east of Cape Otway and for the Gippsland Lakes. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments A high pressure system over the south Tasman Sea will move very slowly eastwards during the next few days. A low pressure system is expected to develop over the western Bight on Thursday and will move to just west of Tasmania later by late Saturday. An associated trough will approach western Victoria on Friday, moving into central Victoria late on Saturday. Victoria Wednesday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the eastern ranges. A warm and humid day with light to moderate northeasterly wind tending east to southeasterly near the coast and freshening. Fire Danger: Generally high to very high.
