Farming Costs in the U.S. Up Versus Last YearWASHINGTON - Dec/06 - SNS -- The December Index of Prices Paid for Commodities and Services, Interest, Taxes, and Farm Wage Rates (PPITW) is 148% of the 1990-92 average, reveals the latest USDA report. The index is up 2 points (1.4%) from November and 5 points (3.5%) above December 2005. Higher prices in December for complete feeds, feed concentrates, feed supplements, and diesel fuel offset lower prices for nitrogen fertilizers, building materials, feeder cattle, and LP gas. The December Index of Prices Paid for Commodities and Services, Interest, Taxes, and Farm Wage Rates (PPITW) at 148 (1990-92=100), increased 1.4% from November 2006 and increased 3.5% from December 2005.
