Red Meat Stocks Advance
WASHINGTON - Dec 21/06 - SNS -- Total red meat supplies in freezers rose 22 million pounds in November to 987 million pounds, up 11% from the previous year, notes the USDA in its latest report on agricultural products in cold storage.
Frozen pork supplies slipped 1% during the month to 464 million pounds, up 6% from the previous year. Stocks of pork bellies were up 96% from last month at 31 million pounds and up 8% from last year.
Supplies of beef slipped from year earlier levels, easing 1% to 503.2 million pounds, up around 28 million pounds from the previous month.
