Vietnamese Peanut Expansion StallsHANOI - Sep 30/02 - STAT -- Vietnam's efforts to expand peanut production to at least 395,000 metric tons (MT) this year are being stymied by recent storms, and continued bad weather in the north central regional, which could reduce the size of the 2002 crop. Expanding production is important to the country's goal of expanding export sales. Roughly 57,000 MT have already been shipped during the opening half of 2002, but it could be hard to maintain this shipment pace the last half of the year, believes the U.S. agricultural attache here.
