Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 30/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters west of Cape
Otway.
A frost warning is current for the Northern Country and Northeast districts.
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system over southern New South Wales will move to the Tasman Sea
on Tuesday. A cold front will move across Victoria during Wednesday then another
high pressure system will move towards Victoria during Thursday before moving
across the State on Friday.   
Victoria
Tuesday:   Isolated showers in the south, clearing in the early morning.  Local
early fogs inland and frosts in the north, locally severe, then a fine mild day.
Light winds tending north to northwesterly and freshening from the west.
UV Index: 7 [Very high] reduced to 2 [moderate] under cloud. 
Wednesday: Fine and warm ahead of a cool change with scattered showers and local
thunderstorms extending from the west.
Thursday:  Showers contracting to the south and east. Cool to mild.
Friday:    Local morning fog. Isolated showers in Gippsland clearing. Mild.
Generally light wind.

Fine. A mainly sunny day with light wind tending moderate north to
northwesterly.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tuesday:   Variable winds around 5 knots, tending north to northwesterly at 10
to 15 knots during the morning then freshening to 15 to 20 knots later in the
afternoon or evening. Waves below half a metre,  rising to around 1 metre during
the afternoon.
Wednesday: Northerly wind increasing to 20 to 30 knots in the early morning
before shifting southwesterly during the afternoon then moderating to 15 to 20
knots. 
Thursday:  Southwest to southerly wind chiefly 10 to 15 knots. 
Friday:    Variable winds to 10 knots with afternoon seabreezes at 10 to 15
knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
