Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 29/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A frost warning is current for the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North
Central and Northeast districts.
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Wilsons
Promontory.  
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system near Adelaide will continue moving eastwards, reaching
southeastern Australia on Monday and the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A cold front
will move from the Bight into Victoria during Wednesday then another high
pressure system will develop over the Bight during Thursday.  
Victoria
Monday:    Widespread early morning frost north of the divide, locally severe,
then a fine and mostly sunny day. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges,
contracting to the coast during the morning and clearing from the west. A cool
to mild day with generally light wind.
UV Index: 6 [High] reduced to 2 [moderate] under cloud. 
Tuesday:   Fine apart from morning fogs in the southeast. Inland morning frost.
Mild.
Wednesday: Fine and warm ahead of a cool change with isolated showers and
thunderstorms extending from the west.
Thursday:  Isolated shower in the south and east. Possible thunderstorms over
the northeast. Cool to mild.

Monday
A shower or two at first clearing to a fine and partly cloudy day. Generally
light westerly wind and afternoon bayside seabreezes.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Monday:    West to southwesterly wind 10 to 15 knots tending westerly during the
early morning and easing to 10 knots. Afternoon seabreezes of similar strength.
Waves abating to half a metre or less.
Tuesday:   Northwesterly winds 10 to 15 knots and local afternoon seabreezes of
similar strength. 
Wednesday: North to northwesterly wind 15 to 20 knots shifting southwesterly at
similar strength late in the day.
Thursday:  Southwest to southerly wind chiefly 10 to 15 knots. 
Headline Melbourne: Becoming fine.
