Slowing Growth in U.S. Milk OutputWASHINGTON - Dec 11/06 - SNS -- Milk production will likely slow in the United States in 2007 as improved prices for milk are more than offset by forecast increases in feed costs, according to the latest USDA World Agricultural Outlook Board forecasts. However, dairy markets are relatively tight as demand for many dairy products is reducing skim-basis stocks and supporting higher prices. Supplies of butter are expected to remain ample, pressuring 2006 butter prices, but price forecasts for cheese, nonfat dry milk, and whey are raised from last month.
