Food Peas Firmer to UnchangedVANCOUVER - Dec 8/06 - SNS -- International field peas markets ended the week's trading firmer to unchanged against ongoing buying interest from the Indian subcontinent and Asian destinations. North American domestic markets were helped by the USDA's purchase of 7,370 metric tons (MT) of yellow split and 350 MT of green split peas for shipment as food aid in January. The USDA paid an average U.S. $16.58 per 100 pounds on a delivered Gulf ports basis for the splits, while paying a 32 cent premium for the yellows.
