For Friday WARNINGS: Strong wind warning for coastal waters north of Smoky Cape. Strong wind warning for coastal waters south of Port Hacking for Saturday Fire Weather Warning and Total Fire Ban for the Northwest Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, Hunter and Northern Tablelands. STATE FORECAST High to very high fire danger most parts, very high to extreme in Northwest Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, Hunter and Northern Tablelands. Isolated showers or thunderstorms over much of the north of the state, contracting to the northeast on Saturday. Isolated showers and freshening winds developing in the southern inland behind a colder westerly change, which will pass through the state today and tomorrow. Dry remainder with lengthy sunny periods. Warm to very warm in the northeast of the state today, milder in the south and west. Cooler tomorrow with snow expected on the Alps. Moderate north to northwest winds, fresh and gusty at times ahead of the change, moderate westerly winds, fresh and gusty at times behind the change, and becoming strong in the southeast on Saturday afternoon.
