U.S. Dairy Product Output Up
WASHINGTON - Dec 1/06 - SNS -- The volume of dairy products manufactured in the United States in October rose above month and year earlier levels, according to the latest USDA report.
Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 800 million pounds, 5.2% above October 2005 and 2.0% above September 2006.
Italian type cheese production totaled 334 million pounds, 7.2% above October 2005 and 3.3% above September 2006. American type cheese production totaled 321 million pounds, 2.8% above October 2005 but 1.3% below September 2006.
Butter production was 118 million pounds, 8.5% above October 2005 and 13.9% above September 2006.
