Canadian Field Pea Export Volumes EaseVANCOUVER - Dec 1/06 - SNS -- Canada's bulk conventional field pea exports are being hurt by the collapse in Spanish feed pea demand, judging from data available from the Canadian Ports Clearance Association. Vessel loading data covers only peas and other specialty crops handled by licensed facilities which report to the association. More product was loaded through other facilities in Vancouver, with the result actual movement data will not available until Statistics Canada releases its monthly updates. However, movement data reported by the Clearance Association and other agencies such as the Canadian Grain Commission offer good insight into the overall trend because a significant proportion of all bulk conventional shipments move via reporting facilities. In November, the association reports only 97,216 metric tons (MT) of peas were loaded to vessels at Vancouver and Thunder Bay, down from 204,229 MT during the same month last year. Movement at Thunder Bay totalled just 5,250 MT, just a tenth of the 49,122 MT loaded last year. Clearances through Vancouver sank from 155,107 to 91,966 MT.
