Indian's Fertilizer Output Exceeds October TargetNEW DELHI - Nov 30/06 - SNS -- Production of major fertilizers in India totalled 1.796 million metric tons (MT) of urea and 365,000 MT of DAP as against the target of 1.491 million and 492,000 MT respectively. Cumulative production of urea and DAP during April-October,2006 has been 11.556 million MT and 2.835 million MT against the targets of 11.384 million MT and 3.218 million MT respectively. During the month, approximately 2.156 million MT of urea was despatched to the States as against the target of 1.491 million. Availability of urea during the month was about 3.4 million MT. The position was satisfactory in all the states. The sale of Urea during Rabi 2006-07 up to October, 2006 was about 1.757 million MT which was higher by about 17.05% as compared to the sale of 1.501 million last year. Availability of DAP and MOP during the month has been about 2.34 million MT and 1.266 million MT respectively, which was adequate to meet the demand of the States. During the month the country imported 303,000 MT of urea, 414,000 MT of DAP and 758,000 MT of MOP. In addition, 177,000 MT of urea was also received from OMIFCO plant in Oman. The cumulative import of urea, DAP and MOP during April –October, 2006 has been 2.343 million MT, 2.197 million MT and 1.619 million MT respectively.
