Uzbek Cotton Harvest ImprovesWASHINGTON - Nov 28/06 - SNS -- Cotton seed production in Uzbekistan ended up at 3.72 million metric tons (MT) of seed cotton, while lint production is expected to come in around 1.2 million MT or 5.5 million bales, according to a recent report from the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. This year's favorable weather conditions during the vegetation period and harvesting in September-October considerably benefited the crop condition and allowed the farmers to over-fulfill the state target by about 3.5%. Still, given farmers' low incomes, the U.S. agricultural attache said official seed cotton production figures can be overestimated by 50,000 to 60,000 MT.
